Taking flight with a streamlined B2C fare booking system

This project was a full overhaul of the client’s existing website and travel booking engine which streamlined the booking process and added a modern feel.

I provided mockups in Figma of the website and customer journey through to booking (including confirmation documentation and emails) for approval before leading the frontend development.

The project was split into two parts, a simple WordPress website and a React-based SPA for the booking engine. I used a Web Component to embed the search form onto the WordPress side, allowing me to reuse react components from the SPA and avoid the pitfalls of iframes that the old technology suffered from.

The React frontend consumed the APIs that our backend devs were working on and together we significantly improved performance. Much of this project was later forked to form the basis of “Travelflow 2”, a more customisable standard product.
